I'm Dan Santis. I've been reselling for over 10 years: vintage jewelry, art glass, studio glass, collectible dinnerware, and world banknotes and coins, which is my specialty. Before that, I spent years managing retail stores, so inventory counts, shrink and margins were my job long before eBay was.
Today I manage listings and operations for an eBay store. Every item I sell goes through Pivotal Reseller first. When something breaks, I'm usually the first one it breaks for.
Why I built it
The listing tools I tried were good at one thing: getting items onto marketplaces. Everything after that lived in spreadsheets. What did I pay for it? What did eBay actually take once ad fees and labels came out? Did it sell somewhere else first? I wanted one place that answered all of that, so I started building it.
Three decisions came out of that:
1. It's a desktop app.
Your inventory and sales records are a file on your own PC. If you stop using Pivotal Reseller, your records are still yours.
2. It does the books, not just the listings.
Every item carries its cost from purchase to sale, so the profit number means something.
3. It posts through your own browser.
The companion Chrome extension works inside the marketplace accounts you're already logged into, on your own computer.
Where it stands
Pivotal Reseller is in alpha. It runs on Windows only. Some features are finished and tested on live marketplaces; others are partial. The features page shows which is which, and What's New shows what changed in each release.
I read every bug report and every forum post. Alpha testers get a direct line to me, not a support queue.
What it will cost
The alpha is free. The desktop app will transition to a standard subscription after alpha. Founding testers will receive special pricing and hear about pricing before anyone else, well before it starts.
